I had really crappy looking tall fescues for five years at this property. I think a lot of it was Kentucky 31 which looked terrible.

This year I decided to have the lawn, professionally air rated and professionally dethatched.

I used Twin City Seed:
-Hattrick, and Fireball with midnight KGB two times.
-Jonathan Green Black Beauty Ultra, and I’m pleased with the results of that too, even though it’s not too popular here any longer

I had noticed that the PRG Hattrick and Fireball have looked much lighter than the rest of the lawn when they’re supposed to be some of the darkest cultivars on the market, but I’m assuming it just needs to mature. I am not nitrogen deficient. So I do not need nitrogen or any other supplements according to my soil tests. And actually my soil test for iron was high. pH is 6.45.

This was all over seeded in late August through the end of September. And I did another quick overseed in the beginning of October.

Reason being for October overreee is the detaching that they did really left a lot of spots with no grass. The professional company that I trust said that that grass just didn’t have deep roots came up during dethatching and that the soil was too moist and cu the cut back the irrigation which I did.

Products used since April:
Scotts Turfbuilder with pendomathlin this I can’t believe how well I kept the weeds at bay. And we had a really hot humid summer here in northeastern Pennsylvania.

Milorganite almost monthly at heavy rate.

HeadwayG during humid months – stuff is phenomenal. Wiped out fungus that had already taken place and prevented any other fungus for at least the rest of the season.

Then I switched to Andersons products.
1.) Core Elite 12-12-12
2.) K Supplement because that was the only part of the soil test that came back low.
3.) HumiChar

Now I’m deciding if I need to do any other fall blitz feeding at this point. Any advice here?

Thanks in advance!

    Where you be?

And what would you estimate was your 2025 total lawn upkeep spend?

Wow. This is beautiful! You put a ton of research and work into your lawn and it really shows. You must have the best lawn on the block.

When I see lawns like this on this sub and people say they’ve used Milorganite religiously, it makes me wonder about all the negative reviews that fertilizer gets here. Like, look at that lawn! Proof is in the pudding, isn’t it!?

So what’s the plan for next year? You probably won’t need to overseed again, just maintain.
